2023 ALAMOS MALBEC

8 Years of 91 Points

Flavors: Blackberry, Dark Cherry, White Pepper, Chocolate

Tasting Notes: The Alamos 2023 Malbec is a full-bodied red wine grown in Argentina’s most renowned winegrowing region. Aromas of blackcurrant rise from the glass with subtle notes of white pepper. Deep layers of wild blackberry meld with dark cherry give the wine a rich, silky mouthfeel. On the finish, silky mouthfeel reveals aromas of sweet tea leaves and notes of shaved chocolate on the long finish.

Acclaim: 91 Points, James Suckling. February 2024
"Lots of cherry fruit with touches of white pepper and spices. Juicy and vibrant, with soft tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Medium-length finish laden with fruit. Drink now."

Viticulture Notes:
Although the 2023 growing season in Mendoza experienced frost events that led to lower yields, the vines rebounded and developed optimal flavor concentration. Harvest occurred earlier than expected, producing Malbec grapes with deep color and excellent aging potential.

Winemaking Notes:
The grapes for our Malbec were hand harvested, de-stemmed and crushed. The must was cold soaked for 72 hours prior to fermentation, which occurred over seven days in both upright and conical tanks at a maximum temperature of 85°F. For optimal extraction of color and flavor, we used pump-overs and the skins were left in contact with the juice for up to 20 days. This wine was aged on a combination of French and American oak before bottling.
