2022 SELECCIÓN MALBEC
Flavors: Mission Plum, Dark Berry Jam, Spice
Tasting Notes: Our 2022 Selección Malbec is a reserve wine from Mendoza, one of Argentina's most prolific winegrowing regions. This rich, decadent wine opens with enticing aromas of blackberries, blueberries and nutmeg. Layers of Mission plum and dark berry jam are complemented by hints of brown spice. The wine is deep and dark, with notes of crushed violet and spice adding to its complexity. The finish is long with mixed berry jam and subtle hints of white pepper.
Acclaim: 91 Points, James Suckling. March 2024
"A fruity malbec with some sweet spices and coffee. Rich blueberries and spiced purple fruit extend to a solid, medium-bodied palate and a flavorful finish. Drink now."
Viticulture Notes:
The 2022 growing season in Mendoza, Argentina was cool with a dry spring. Despite a few drops in temperature over the season, harvest yielded red grapes of excellent quality and flavor concentration.
Winemaking Notes:
The grapes were hand harvested and de-stemmed before being crushed and cold soaked for up to 4 days. The juice was fermented in upright conical tanks at a maximum temperature of 85˚F. The grapes were allowed to maintain contact with the skins for up to 25 days to extract maximum flavor and deep color. We then racked the wine into a combination of French and American oak barrels for an average of 16-18 months. All lots were kept separate until final blending and then permitted another 4 months to age in the bottle.
